It is no secret that green thinking and sustainable development have become essential parts of the modern hospitality industry. Solutions such as waste sorting and changing towels or bed linen upon request have already become standard in many hotels. However, it is equally important to continuously seek new ways to operate more responsibly.
Sustainability has long been a priority at Jūrmala SPA Hotel. Particular focus has been placed on this area following the brand identity renewal, marking more than 20 years of operation. These changes provided an opportunity not only for a visual refresh but also to strengthen the hotel’s commitment to environmentally friendly hospitality - both in daily operations and long-term practices.
Our key initiatives:
• A digital check-in system, HotelBuddy, has been introduced, allowing guests to complete registration and access their rooms remotely using smart devices. This significantly reduces paper consumption and makes the arrival process more convenient and eco-friendly.
• Waste sorting bins are gradually being installed throughout the hotel, enabling guests to separate waste responsibly during their stay.
• Complimentary plastic water bottles have been eliminated. Instead, drinking water refill stations are available on every guest floor, and reusable carafes are provided in each room, significantly reducing plastic consumption.
• A thoughtful housekeeping policy has been implemented - rooms are cleaned upon request, helping to reduce the use of water, electricity, and cleaning products.
• Electric vehicle charging stations and designated parking spaces for EVs are available in the hotel parking area, supporting more sustainable mobility choices.
• Employees are encouraged to use public transportation for their daily commute, reducing environmental impact.
• Bicycle rental is available for guests, offering a convenient and eco-friendly way to explore Jūrmala and its surroundings.
