History of the hotel

The hotel building was built in the 1970s. It was designed as a tourist hotel for guests from all over the Soviet Union and was named after the resort town - "Hotel Jurmala". The hotel had 160 guest rooms, a beauty salon, a café as well as a casino and at that time one of the most famous restaurants and cabaret shows in Latvia.

In the autumn of 2004, the hotel building was bought by an Estonian investment company and underwent a major reconstruction. On May 27 of 2005, the brand-new Hotel Jūrmala Spa welcomed its first guests to a modern 4-star spa and conference hotel. Worth mentioning is the fact, that this hotel project started the development of spa culture in Latvia as at that time only couple of hotels in Baltics offered such a wide range of spa recreation possibilities.

The hotel is still successfully operating as a 4-star SPA and conference centre, continuing to develope the spa culture in Latvia and providing high standards of hospitality. The company is working on continuous improvement. In summer 2018, the hotel’s saunas and pools Wellness Oasis centre was reconstructed. In winter 2019, the hotel lobby was reconstructed. The company invests also in modern technologies and systems in order to improve the guest experience at Hotel Jūrmala Spa.
